Weight Training Instruction: Steps to Success

Weight Training Instruction: Steps To Success (book)

Weight Training Instruction: Steps To Success (book)

DESCRIPTION

Whether the setting is a fitness center or an activity class, instructors need both Weight Training: Steps to Success and Weight Training Instruction: Steps to Success. The participant book presents the techniques involved in weight training and the instructor guide shows you how to teach those techniques effectively.

The companion instructor guide is the only resource available that shows you step by step how to plan, prepare, implement, and evaluate a technically sound and safe total-body weight training program. The book enables you to individualize instruction by identifying your students' changing needs as they progress to more intense workouts.

Although each of the 16 steps (chapters) corresponds to one in the participant book, the instructor guide gives you the flexibility to set up and plan lessons according to your teaching situation. You'll also find many ready-to-use tools that promote successful teaching and learning, including

p tips on class management, safety, and reducing your liability;
p 36 rating charts for easy evaluation of student skill levels;

p a basic total-body program for both free weights and machines (single- or multistation pivot and cam);

p equipment location guidelines for maximum safety;
p teaching cues to maximize learning;
p concepts to emphasize in class lectures;
p 80 student drills;
p a bank of 100 test questions;

p 9 program design checkpoints to help students design their own programs; and

p sample forms for a unit plan and an early lesson plan.

Weight Training Instruction: Steps to Success and Weight Training: Steps to Success enables fitness instructors, personal trainers, teachers, and coaches to provide their students the knowledge they need to safely participate in weight training and develop their own programs.
